Professor in Charge: Prof. Sanjeev Kumar

Dr. Sanjeev Kumar is working as Assistant Professor in the Department of Hydro and Renewable Energy, IIT Roorkee. Before joining IIT Roorkee, he served as Assistant Professor in Chemical and Biochemical Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Patna (India) during May 2017 to June 2019 and as Assistant Professor in Biotechnology at NSIT Delhi during August 2014 to May 2017.

Dr. Sanjeev did his B.E in Biochemical Engineering from Kumaon Engineering College (now, BTKIT) Uttarakhand in 2008, M. Tech in Biotechnology from Anna University, Chennai in 2010, and Ph.D. in “Environmental Biotechnology and Bioenergy” from IIT Delhi (2015). For his outstanding research contribution, he was awarded the prestigious “Distinction in Doctoral Research Award 2016” from IIT Delhi.

He has secured funding from various agencies under highly competitive research grants such as SERB, IMPRINT and the Indo-Hungarian joint project. Sanjeev has guided one Ph.D. scholar, 05 M.Tech students, and several B.Tech students for their project work. Currently, he is guiding 06 Ph.D. scholars and 02 M. Tech students at IIT Roorkee. He has published research in several international journals of high repute including Green Chemistry, Applied energy, Nature-Scientific Reports, Biotechnology Advances, and Bioresource Technology, etc. He is also an active reviewer for SERB projects and, SCI journals in his area of expertise.

Research Interests:

Wastewater treatment and recycling, bioenergy generation, compressed biogas, resource recovery, climate change, water environmental management, bioenergy and waste valorization.
